Trying to make it simple

I have been wanting to get back in to the card making again and have somewhat but have been finding it hard to sit down and dedicate a lot of time to each of the cards. In the meantime I have been colouring lots of Christmas images - as I don't want to get caught with no Christmas cards at the end of the year like I did last year. Don't get me wrong I loved making the cards I made for a friends sister but in doing so I did not have any time to make my own.

So I am starting early on Christmas cards and just cards in general for throughout the year. Even though I have a few too many cards made up already cardmaking is a passion. It is something you do as you enjoy it not just because you have an occasion that comes up.

The below card was made with my new thinking in mind - that new thinking is simplicity. I am trying to make all my cards a lot more simple.

This image is Winona from my stamp shop - Spesch Designer stamps. She can be found HERE, along with all the other gorgeous chibi stamps in this line by Max. Click on Max's name and it will take you to the page on my website that has all of his stamps.

I printed the image on to a A5 size piece of Copic Blending card which you can pick up here at Mad for Markers (along with all your marker needs). Sammi is currently having a wonderful trip overseas right now so be patient she will be back in business soon.

After printing her on to one side of the paper I coloured her like normal but instead of cutting out the whole image to stick, she has just been backed with some purple card. I am quite happy with the way this turned out. The sentiment is something I found free online. I don't recall where I got it from. If you do a search you should be able to pick up a few images in PNG that you can put on your card if you don't have any sentiment stamps.

Preview Day 1 - Dark Fairy

Good morning my sweets. It is always a long time between posts for me lately but I have other projects that I deem more important than my paper crafting at the moment so I apologize.

Today at Spesch Stamps we have a preview of the new stamps by Max. This stamp is 'Dark Fairy'. I love her. She is not sweet I can tell you that. She is fabulous though and great to colour. Pop in to the Spesch blog to see the previews by the DT. They once again have done a wonderful job. This card was made with a fabulous sketch by The Sweet Stop. I didn't get creative today. I just did the exact sketch. I wanted to show off our lovely girl. Enjoy your day. Will see you tomorrow for more previews for Spesch.

I made a star eisle card for this image. If you would like to see a tutorial and get a free template I will do one if I have enough interest. Please comment on this post and I will do one.

Colouring chibi/anime eyes

I have had many enquiries on how to colour the eyes on most of our stamps at Spesch so I thought I had better do a tutorial on it. More like a show and tell as there isn't much to it really. Below are three photos showing my progress with the eyes.

Colour the whole eye with a light colour. I used B21
Grab a darker colour and put it in the middle. I used B02
Lastly I grabbed my 0.5 liner and coloured her iris.
Here is the whole image coloured.
If you want to get tricky you could go darker in the middle and blend with the lighter colour but I like the colour to be close so I don't blend (most of the time).

Preview Day 2 - Goth boy & Cinderella

Good morning. Wow it is the weekend. The weeks seem to go so quickly and I reckon the older I get the quicker it goes. Before I know it - BAM - it will be the start of another week. Phew. Better make it worth it huh....!!! LOL.

Today I have another preview for you for Spesch Stamps.
We have 'Goth Boy with ring' by Max and 'Cinderella' by Christina. I must admit that I do love both of them very much but the Goth Boy is a favourite. Talk about Emo. LOL. Cinderella is too cute to boot and is perfect on any type of card (I reckon).

This card was made for the Deconstructed Sketch
challenge #13.
This card was made for the Digital Tuesday Challenge
#122 which is to use 'Doilies'.
If there is any tebby/bear makers out there I need your help. I am after Chenille fabric and am finding it terribly hard to find it. If you know where to get some please let me know. TIA.
