Hello hello everyone. What a wonderful break I had and I am back over at Mad for Markers - yep and my days have changed. I am now a Friday girl - woot.

I thought I would start this year off with an age old question. What skin tone colours do you use...?? Some people like using the light and other the dark. I kind of like the in between colours but from time to time I will do the others. I have coloured three images for you today to show you the differences in the skin. The colours used are under the image. Please click on the photo to see a larger view.

As you can see from left to right the change in tones. The middle one is the one I typically use but will from time to time do the E00 as the base colour. It is always a personal preference for anyone and sometimes you may not have the colours I have used in any of the three. What do you all think...?? What is your preference...?? Let us know.

I seems in the Christmas madness I have forgotten my Friday Sketch Challenge post. Sorry. I forgot all about it. No excuses. At least I got a card made huh. lol Just feel busy busy at the moment and can't wait for the madness to end. The kids will be stoked with their presents so hoping after the initial excitement it will keep them quiet for a little while. To change it up a bit I did this card instead of a Christmas card. Teachers plant.....

I did it. I managed to get the needle felted apple finished for Tyler's teacher Miss Spano. He loved it so am hoping she will too. It is the second one I completed. The first one I was unable to give as a gift - at least to a Grade 1 teacher (that is what grade she is teaching next year) as I broke a felting needle in the middle of it. Oops...!!!! So back to the start. But it turned out well. I made the 'box/stand' although am thinking that I should have made it so the apple stays there but any person/child can pick it up and play with it. We will see I guess. If she has it at school who knows but I made an effort and that is the main thing - Right....!!!!???

Cheating

This year I have found that I have a bucket load of cards to send and give out so in my exhaustion to try and get them all finished I decided to cheat. I took two Mo Manning Little Elf Finn stamp and coloured them up (the same). I photocopied them all on another piece of card, two images at a time. Phew....!!! That in itself was time consuming but I did it and it was quicker that colouring 14 images by hand. The top two cards (see below) used the original coloured images that I photocopied. The following cards use the photocopied images. They turned out really well and if you are in a hurry or have lots of cards to do this is the way to go.

These cards were given to the Kinder girls at Ashley's

occasional care and the other will be given to Lachi's

kinder teachers.

These will be sent or given out to people.

Morning everyone. It is hump day. Woo hoo. Ahhh I feel exhausted. Just want the silly season to be over. All these activities we are doing this year are very tiring. No matter. I am sure we will get through it in one piece.

Today I have a card made for Mad for Markers using the sketch from The Sweet Stop. I used this gorgeous elf stamp from Digital Pencil. I do love Mo's stamps. This card was made especially for Tyler Prep teacher Miss Spano. He really loves her and he wanted me to make a special card for her. If I have time (yeah right) I might be able to manage a needle felted apple.

Oh man...!!!! Phew....!!!! I don't know about anyone else but this year I have lagged so behind in my Christmas cards and I keep receiving more so have to give out more. It was so much simpler when it was just friends and family - now it is the kinder and school community. Ahhhh...!!! I am not gonna get enough cards made.

This one has to be the one I enjoyed making the most. This fabulous Santa stamp and beach background stamp were purchased from Make it Crafty. You can buy these and a lot more from the store. Santa was printed on white card but background was printed on Kraft card. I wanted Santa to stand out. Enjoy your day.

Christmas is only a little over a month away and I have not yet finished my cards. How aobut all of you....??? The Limit

Morning everyone. Hope we are all well. I must apologize to you all for my lack of posts. I have come to the conclusion that I can't keep making cards for the sake of making cards. Why you ask...??? I have about 400 cards sitting here gathering dust as no one wants to buy them and also because it is not cheap to make so many cards all the time. So I have taken a little break. Will still be doing posts on a Wednesday for Mad for Markers and also do releases for Spesch but am finding I have no motivation to make cards for anything else. I hope you understand.

Good afternoon to all but very early morning for some. Hope you enjoyed the last sketch over at Friday Sketch Challenge. Remember it is just a bit of fun. Would love to see all your entries. This fortnight we have a sketch by yours truly. I must say that I am still very much a novice when it comes to do sketches on the computer. I have been MIA as I have also got myself in to dolls. Yep dolls....!!!! I have noticed a few dolls around the traps with some of the bear makers and thought I would investigate. Big mistake. I fell in love with the Ball Jointed Dolls - but man do they cost some $$$$$ so have been looking looking looking for some cute dolls that aren't too expensive with the view to 'dress' them up in my own style. Stay tuned as I received my first dolls head to do a face up yesterday (but damn the weather - too windy to seal it outside and you need a well ventilated area. Anyway will let you know when I post something up on my bear blog.

Meet Patty

Meet the new addition to our teddy family. Boy it is starting to look a bit like a farm lol. Our 'mouse' edition to the family is named 'Patty'. My son Lachi named her. My other son Tyler thinks she looks like a koala lol. Anyway. It was not my intention for her to look like a mouse but she turned out really well.

Needle felted face and feet. Copic markers to shade on all the felting. Faux fur (that I got from Spotlight) and white suede for the inner ears. The eyes are clear glass that I air brushed BV25 on to the back to make them purple.

I did notice one thing when uploading these photos. That is that she has a bit of a lazy eye. Doh...!!! Will have to fix that up lol.

The last photo is Patty before the felted feet and her ears. I must say that I am not used to making bears. I can't even manage to do a proper ladder stitch yet but hoping that I can make it down to Bear Essence this afternoon to 'learn' from the lovely ladies there. We will see.

Meet my new baby girl named Annie (my little missy named her). She is made from synthetic faux fur with the Tooti pattern I purchased from JennylovesBenny minus the rabbit ears. Her face is needle felted. I was going to use the black nose on Henry (my other bear) but thought it was too dark for his face. I didn't do much shading on her face as I am yet to master that. Hoping to be able to have a fun afternoon at Bear Essence in Tooradin this Saturday and learn some new things - like how to ladder stitch properly.

Unfortunately her left arm fell off. I think I used the wrong sized disc to attach her arm and for some reason it ripped right through the fabric. Goes to show that these bears are definately only for show and not for children to play with. I had to reattach her arm with dental floss so now it doesn't move how it should - I nearly cried. LOL.

My completed bear

Phew...!!!! Do you know how relieved I am that I have completed this bear...?? I must say I put a lot of work in to this bear. Ahhhh so glad I am finished. I have no idea how other bear makers felt when they first started out making their gorgeous creations but as happy as I am that I have completed this bear and he is cute to boot I am not happy with the overall finish. I think his body is too big for his head. I was going to go for a smaller body but thought that would look funny but not impressed. Oh well. Practice practice like any craft. The head pattern was from Jennylovesbenny and the body was from a pattern by Karen Alderson. So many talented people out there.

Here is my dear bears face. I cut the stitched nose off and needle

felted another. I like this one much better.

The head is attached with a wobble joint.

So sorry I have been MIA lately. I have been concentrating on making a few bears. Yes I know. My new obsession LOL. I promise that I will have some cards for you next week or at least a few completed bears to show you - I have 4 going at the moment. I am a typical Gemini. I will finish them though.

Over at Zoe's Make It Crafty FB group a challenge was set a little while ago to colour an image but light coloured ink so when it is coloured it looks like it has no defined lines. OMG you wouldn't believe how hard that truly is. I really do rely on those black lines but thought I would give it a go. Now I am fully admitting that this is not good. I need a lot of practice but it is my first attempt and possibly my last LOL. We will see. Anyway. I stamped the image out in pink Memento ink.

Been dealing with some issues with Tyler and some 'bullying' - but not in the traditional sense. He doesn't think there is much wrong but what is happening is and it is upsetting and downright cruel to all the kids that are copping it. A word will be said to the teacher tomorrow as I am sure it will continue - not just to Tyler but to the others in his class. Crossing my fingers that I don't cry or get too emotional when talking to her about it.

Afternoon everyone. What a wonderful Spring day it was here in Melbourne. My gosh it was so nice. I had a girlfriend come over and hang out and gossip with me. It is always so nice when you have one of those days.

I have something to show you. Most people who make bears use the usual mohair fur to make them including the face. I personally love the look of the needle felted faces. They bring a whole new character to a bear so I thought I would give it a shot. I must admit for my first attempt I did a pretty good job of it. Now on to making the body and sit it somewhere where I can admire it. Here is the progress in photos.

The face pretty much bare with a bit of wool felted on it but

completely flat.

Sculpted cheeks, nose and mouth.

Wasn't happy with the nose (made it look like a

monkey) so I changed it by adding more wool.

Altered nose, eyelids and copic markers used.

Nose done, ears sewn on.

What do you think....???

I seriously need to work on the nose but thought

he looked pretty good.

First before I get in to my card - I noticed when I came in here to do this post that I had 1001 posts woot which means this is 1002. Wow. Who would have thought. Been busy and only been blogging for over just over 2yrs so that is more than one post a day. Woot. hahahaha Not obsessed with blogging much.

Anywho. Here is a card I made for the Sweet Stop sketch for the 6th Aug. Oops. I got so busy doing my bear making that I forgot to post on here and thus enter the challenge. Naughty me. The image is from Mo Manning. Gotta love it. Kind of a modern version of Snow White I reckon or maybe I am still in fairytale mode.

In person news I started the Michelle Bridges 12 Week Body Transformation challenge. Hoping to get spurred on to get some more weightloss going. Wish me luck as I really do need it. At the moment it is only the preseason - we don't start officially for another 4wks but I am getting stuck in to it now. If you want to read about my weightloss journey go here.

Phew I tell ya it has been a while since I did some cardmaking and I am sorry but this is the reason why. I bought a kit for the Kringles bear at the bear shop called Bear Essence which can be found in Tooradin (if you are in Melbourne). My 6yr DS wants it coz he thinks it is cool and my DD wants it coz she is the one who chose it for me. LOL. The Tooti rabbit was a pattern I got from Jennylovebenny. They aren't that good but better than I expected them to turn out. At the very bottom is my mini needle felted bear in progress. OMG I am addicted. You can see how small it will be - hence why I took the photo on the cutting board.

Gosh I have been a bit distracted. Sorry I haven't posted most of the week but have been busy making a bunny rabbit for my next door neighbor's DD who turns 11 tomorrow. I did complete my other bear and will show you as soon as I have made his overalls for him. LOL. My DD 3yrs thinks that he should be her's as she picked him out. Bless her. The kids seem to love the teddies I have been 'trying' to create. So I will be back in the next couple of days with photos of my teddies and hopefully at least one card.

Colouring chibi/anime eyes

I have had many enquiries on how to colour the eyes on most of our stamps at Spesch so I thought I had better do a tutorial on it. More like a show and tell as there isn't much to it really. Below are three photos showing my progress with the eyes.

Colour the whole eye with a light colour. I used B21

Grab a darker colour and put it in the middle. I used B02

Lastly I grabbed my 0.5 liner and coloured her iris.

Here is the whole image coloured.

If you want to get tricky you could go darker in the middle and blend with the lighter colour but I like the colour to be close so I don't blend (most of the time).

Totally Gorjuss sketch challenge

For today I thought I would show you a card I made for the Totally Gorjuss challenge with the above sketch. I thought it was fitting to use a Gorjuss girl stamp (from Santoro). I have a lot of them now but still don't have all of them. One day maybe. LOL. Waiting for the LSS to start stocking them so I can get the rest. Enjoy your day.

On a totally unrelated topic - I have been scouting blogland and have become obsessed with looking at gorgeous handmade teddy bears. I found '100 Best Bear Artist Blogs' and this is a wabbit made by Ina at Bears'n'Roses. As much as I would love to make something a gorgeous as this I don't know whether I could manage it. There is a lot of work involved in bear making. Felting is one that I would love to learn. Sounds like it would be hard but well worth it. If you look at those gorgeous paws you will see what 'Felting' is. It is 'sculpting' with felt/wool pretty much.

Wow it is Saturday. Even though I am thankful it is the weekend - no doubt it will go too quickly. Boo hoo. LOL.

Okay - New sketch challenge. I have missed having a sketch challenge on a Friday. So much so that I have decided to start a new challenge on a Friday called Friday Sketch Challenge. Hahaha nothing spectacular I know hahaha but I really have had a bit of a gap over the weekends so thought this was the best way to overcome that.

This isn't a call. Just thought if any was interested please email me - booyagrl@gmail.com and I will put you on the list of interested people. We will most likely do two groups if we have enough interest so means you will only need to make a card once a fortnight. Good afternoon and TGIF. It has been a long week. From the toothache of the century which resulted in my tooth being extracted to our first ever Parent Teacher Interview for my eldest son. It has been a hell of a week and sure glad it is almost over.

My card. Well I made it with the sketch from Papertake Weekly. I love the simple sketches as they are easier to add more elements to it - hence I have added a flower. I used this fab stamp from WOJ. Can't remember it's name but the gracious Katerina from WOJ gave it to me as I purchased a few stamps in one go. Thanks for that sweets. Anyway here is it.

I used a Spica pen on this image but it is always so hard to see in photos. I took it in to the sun and tried to capture it.

Morning everyone. Seeing it is my Mad for Markers post day so I thought I would put together a card using this week's challenge - Sketch by Bron. I turned it on it's side to allow for the oval and Miss Babette. Aren't the new stamps by TGF so cute and, of course, are available from Mad for Markers but you had better be quick - I think they are running out the door.

So for this card I actually used the same piece of DP but because I don't have any other DP that matched I cut out the pieces in the 'puzzle' for the sketch and put it back together. I am my biggest critic so there was a lot more that I could have done with this card but this will certainly do for now. Thanks for looking.

Morning everyone. I have got to say TGIF and also thank god it is the last day of the school holidays. Another normal weekend and then the kids are back at school and kinder. They are kinda driving me a bit batty. They have a bit of cabin fever and even when told not to go outside (like yesterday) they do and ruin the grass in the backyard. Ahhhh I swear I nearly took their heads off LOL. Oh well kids. Who would have them.

My card today was made for a friends little girl who turned two this week. She is a little blond princess - she is totally gorgeous actually so had to make a princess card for her. Hope she likes it. I used Princess No.3 from TGF that the gorgeous Sammi bought me for my birthday. In fact she spoiled me rotten and bought me lots of TGF stamps. I felt like a princess myself. Enjoy your Friday. Decoupage madness

Okay I must warn you that this post is very picture heavy.

I bought these decoupage kits a long long time ago at my local SB shop. After making the card yesterday (that someone asked if it was the decoupage image) I thought I would make them up. I grabbed the striped papers - in fact all the papers - but particularly the striped one and photocopied them on my printer so I didn't cut up the original. Call me a hoarder but I want to keep that paper for future projects and don't want to use it.

So here are eight (8) card fronts that I made. I am thinking that I will keep them as decoration. I attached them to my shelves with some repositional tape but alas they have all fallen down already so I have to find another solution.

Copic Oz Challenge #12 - Embellish It

Today I have a card made for the Copic Oz - Challenge #12 - Embellish It. So have to use your Copic Markers to colour your embellishments. I have air brushed my ribbon - with R89 - and my flowers - C9 for middle and R35 for edge but took my R89 and did a thin line around the edge as well. If you know me you know I love to airbrush so this was fun for me. I could have gone all out and coloured my pearls as well but wanted to leave them raw as it looks better than having them a colour (trust me the coloured ones didn't look nice).

I have been also practicing my colouring on folds or pleats and still finding it a challenge. If you want to see an awesome tutorial on coloring pleats/folds go to Zoe's blog here.

Don't you just love this Gorjuss stamp...!!! Well I do. I have the decoupage set for this too but just can't bring myself to use it as I love it so much. Maybe I should make it up and keep for myself as artwork. Ruby has to be a big favourite but love the others available from Santoro. I purchased mine from Funky Kits.

I am a bit late with my post. Unfortunately I had to step down from the Simply Betty DT a couple weeks ago as I want to concentrate more on Spesch Stamps. Red Hair Challenge

Good morning everyone. It is Monday and that means it is time for a new challenge over at Mad for Markers challenge. I am host for the new challenge. Did we all enjoy the Brown Hair challenge....??? Hope so as this fortnight we have another hair challenge.

Red Hair

There really are a lot of red hair combinations that you could use. I like to try and stick to the natural 'Strawberry blond' colours but I am sure if you are so inclined you could go for more red red colours. The possibilities are limitless. Try YR02, 04, 07 or E95, 97, 99. On this image I used E11, YR14, E08 but if you wanted to make it a bit darker I would have used E39 or E29. Have fun most of all.

Morning sweet darlings. Hope you are all well. Sorry for the lack of posting lately but between myself and my kids we have been a sick household. I have had 'Shingles' apparently, although I didn't have anything but the itchy rash to annoy the hell out of me and my kids have had gastro. So not a happy household - I have been reading lots too.

Anyway today I have a card I made to remind you of the Mad for Markers Challenge of 'Brown Hair' and also I made using the sketch from Sketch Saturday. Morning all. My Copic thursday so I have a card made for you for the new Mad for Markers challenge of 'Brown Hair'. I love this colour combo for brown hair so here is Penny (from Spesch Stamps) all coloured to perfection (LOL big head here). She would have to be my fabvourite stamps from our collection. She seems to be a lot of people's fav as we sold out of the clear stamps. Have a great day.

Good morning everyone. Hope we are all having a wonderful long weekend - if you are in Australia that is. I love having long weekends. Means more PJ time and more creating time too. So without further ado here is my card I made for the Sketch Saturday sketch this week. I made this card with the Engagement image available from Spesch Stamps. Last night was my BIL's engagement 'family dinner'. Was a great dinner and this card was made especially for them.

Afternoon everyone. My gosh afternoon already. I can just see that this weekend is going to go so quickly. Ahhhhhh...!!!! Oh the humanity.

Today I have a card for you that I made for the Totally Paper Crafts Challenge which is 'Summer'. Now I want it to be Summer here in Australia. My gosh it is freezing here and we need a bit of warmth. We keep getting a cold snap - now for us here in Melbourne who have had a drought for 10yrs and to have so much rain and for it to be so cold, I don't think we are coping very well at all. LOL. So this is a card to try and warm myself up. She looks toasty doesn't she. Typical teen really. Wearing too much clothes for the hot weather. Anyway LOL. Off track. Have a good one.

Christmas cards already

Afternoon everyone. Hope we are all having a good Friday. It is nearly pick up time for school here already. Thankfully we have a long weekend so lots of bumming around the house but do have the BIL's family Engagement dinner (which should be good in a nice and relaxing way). Thankfully they will be having a full on party when they get back from overseas in the new year. Can't wait. Love my parties.

I need to apologise to anyone who got a stupid email from me yesterday about computers or laptops - something along those lines. Unfortunately my google account (including my blog) was hacked yesterday and they sent out lots of spam emails - only found out as there was about 3 failed ones that didn't go through. Stupid idiots. All passwords changed so there is no way it will happen again.

Now on to my card. This was made with the gorgeous Winter Fairy from Wee Stamps. I thought she was perfect to start off my Christmas cards for the year. I am not going to be running around at the end of the year again making my cards so started now. What do you think...?? I just love the little bird. Too cute.

New colouring and sketch card

Morning all. Hope we are all having a great week. Did you enjoy the Spesch blog hop yesterday. It is still running so if you want to win some new stamps from the new release go to the blog here.

It is Thursday so it means it is my Mad for Markers show day. Now on the weekend I had the Copic Intermediate Certification and we learnt new techniques that I love but will have some time to get used to. I made this card using the Sunday Sketch and Stamp sketch. I decided to use this sketch as it ties in somewhat with the rule of thirds that I learnt at the class.

The new TOMIC challenge started this week so this will be perfect for that also as it ties in with their first challenge of 'Make a Birthday creation'. Here ya go LOL.

Now if you look at all the Copic colours you will see that I used a lot more than I normally do but in some respects - less. Weird I know.
